Baraye Rana
Baraye Rana (فیلم برای رعنا) is an Iranian psychological drama directed by Alireza Raisian. The story follows a young married couple, Kaveh and Rana, who move into an old apartment in Tehran while preparing to collaborate on a new film project. Although they share a loving relationship, financial struggles and creative pressures create subtle tensions between them.
Soon after moving in, they learn that the apartment’s previous tenant—a young woman—died under suspicious circumstances, reportedly by suicide. The unsettling discovery sparks Kaveh’s curiosity, and he becomes increasingly preoccupied with uncovering the truth behind her death. As his obsession grows, he begins shaping his screenplay around the woman’s tragic story, gradually blurring the line between reality and fiction.
The apartment itself takes on a haunting presence, filled with silence and lingering memories. Rana grows worried about Kaveh’s fixation and the emotional distance forming between them.
Through its restrained storytelling and moody atmosphere, A Film for Rana explores themes of artistic obsession, guilt, and the ethical boundaries of turning real-life tragedy into art, while portraying a marriage strained by ambition and unresolved mystery.
