Job Description: Order Picker
Overview: An Order Picker plays a crucial role in warehouse and distribution center operations, ensuring that products are accurately picked, sorted, and prepared for shipment or delivery to customers. These workers are responsible for efficiently retrieving items from inventory, often using tools such as handheld scanners or forklifts, to fulfill customer orders. The position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Order Fulfillment:
- Accurately pick items from shelves according to customer orders or order tickets.
- Verify the correct quantity and quality of products as per order specifications.
- Inventory Management:
- Organize and stock shelves with incoming inventory.
- Help maintain accurate inventory counts and report discrepancies when necessary.
- Use of Equipment:
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers (e.g., cherry pickers or electric lifts).
- Ensure equipment is used safely and properly maintained.
- Packing and Sorting:
- Prepare picked items for packing by ensuring they are in good condition and properly packed for shipment.
- Sort items by destination or shipping method, ensuring they are correctly labeled.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and warehouse procedures to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with quality control standards.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other warehouse staff, including supervisors, packers, and shipping personnel, to ensure orders are processed and shipped on time.
- Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues or discrepancies
Requirements:
Matric
Can work in a cold area for 8 hours
Able to pick 1.6 ton per hour and 80 tasks per hour
Will accept the rate of R 39.45 Per hour after probation
Have a PPT License
