Job Overview:
We are seeking dedicated, hardworking individuals to join our team as Miners at Boipelo Mining Contractors. As a Miner, you will be responsible for operating mining equipment, excavating minerals, and ensuring that mining activities are performed safely and efficiently. You will work on various mining projects, including surface and underground mining, while adhering to all safety regulations and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Excavation and Material Extraction:
- Operate mining machinery and equipment to extract minerals from underground or surface mines.
- Drill, blast, and load material into transport vehicles, following all safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Perform excavation tasks, removing dirt and rocks to access mineral deposits.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, and drilling equipment.
- Perform basic maintenance and inspections on mining equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Report any malfunctions or required repairs to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all company and industry safety standards, policies, and regulations.
- Follow all operational safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in regular safety drills and training.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery in compliance with environmental and safety laws.
- Workplace Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, keeping tools, equipment, and materials in good condition.
- Manage waste and debris generated during mining operations, following environmental and safety protocols.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with supervisors, safety officers, and fellow miners to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to resolve issues or concerns that may arise during mining operations.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Document the progress of mining activities, including daily reports on work completed, issues encountered, and equipment usage.
- Follow company reporting protocols and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any operational concerns.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in mining, construction, or similar heavy labor environments is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with operating mining equipment is a plus.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of mining operations, including excavation, drilling, and material handling.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, such as excavators, loaders, and trucks, safely and efficiently.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working in both underground and surface mining environments.
- Ability to endure long shifts and adverse weather conditions when required.
- Safety Awareness:
- Knowledge of mining safety protocols, risk management, and emergency response procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of safety and quality in all tasks.
- Teamwork and Communication:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to relay information to supervisors and fellow miners.
