The Sekhukhune Artisan Academy is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for aspiring electricians through our Electrical Apprenticeship Programme. This programme is designed for individuals who are passionate about electrical work and eager to develop their skills in a hands-on, real-world environment. As an apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship from experienced professionals, gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as an electrician. This apprenticeship will expose you to various electrical systems, installations, maintenance, and safety practices, giving you the opportunity to work on live projects and enhance your technical abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learning and Training: Participate in both practical and theoretical training sessions, learning electrical theory, wiring, installations, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Electrical Installations: Assist in the installation of electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, under the guidance of qualified electricians.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Support in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, identifying faults and ensuring systems function safely and efficiently.
  • Safety Compliance: Learn and adhere to safety regulations, standards, and protocols to ensure safe working practices at all times, protecting both yourself and others.
  • Troubleshooting: Develop skills in diagnosing electrical problems and faults, and assist in determining solutions to fix them.
  • Documentation: Assist with keeping accurate records of work completed, equipment used, and any maintenance or repairs performed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside experienced electricians, gaining insights and advice, and contributing to the completion of electrical projects on time and to high standards.
  • Equipment Handling: Learn to safely handle electrical tools and equipment, understanding how to maintain them in good working order.

Advertisement for Electrical Apprenticeship Programme

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and eligible candidates to apply for an apprenticeship programme.

1. Minimum Requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18-35 years.
  • N2 or higher (N6) in Electrical Engineering with relevant trade theory
  • Minimum of Engineering NCV Level 3 or higher (all 7 modules passed)
  • Students who recently completed their Electrical Engineering studies in the previous 3 years and have never participated in a similar programme will have an added advantage.

2. About the Apprenticeship:

    • Duration: 36 months
    • It gives an opportunity to acquire theoretical and workplace exposure in the Electrical Engineering field.
    • Mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
    • Stipend to support the leaner throughout the apprenticeship programme
  • Professional certification and recognition (Trade Test Preparation and Testing)
