POSITION: MINER X 4
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill a position of Miner, to be based at Diepspruit Coal Mine near Kriel, Mpumalanga.
Job Overview:
We are seeking four dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our mining team. As a Miner, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently extracting minerals from underground or surface mining operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a high-demand and challenging environment, where you will gain hands-on experience while contributing to the success of our operations.
In this position, you will be part of a team focused on maintaining a safe work environment while achieving production targets. You will also be responsible for ensuring that mining equipment is used correctly, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and following all operational procedures and safety guidelines.
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
• Valid Blasting Certificate (Continuous Miner preferable) – Fiery mines
• Competent A
• Valid First Aid Certificate
* Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
Gas Testing (8 gases)
• Valid Drivers License
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
3 years or more of Underground mining experience preferably in Coal Mining
• Extensive knowledge of mechanised underground operations
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Executing coal mining operations safely.
• Effective self and team supervision in alignment with company values and leadership initiatives
Compliance with AmandiaTM standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
• Collaboration: Effective teamwork and communication with crew, other miners, and management.
• Decision Making: Ability to make sound decisions based on risk management and operational needs.
Risk Management: Implement safety and risk management policies effectively for self and crew.
Troubleshooting: Ability to resolve technical and operational issues.
• Leadership And Accountability: Manage crew performance, ensure accountability, planning. organising, leading the team and deliver results. Set and manage KPis. (Key Performance Indicators)
• Effective stakeholder engagement
: Communicate the daly micing plans to t cter and necessary precautions to avoid reoccureno
Communicate the daily mining plans to the crew and allocation of responsibilities to the crew.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mining Operations:
- Extract minerals from designated mining areas by operating mining equipment, including drills, excavators, and other machinery.
- Perform drilling, blasting, and excavation tasks in underground or surface mining sites, following operational plans and safety procedures.
- Load mined materials onto trucks or conveyors for transportation to processing areas.
- Maintenance of Equipment:
- Conduct regular inspections of mining equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or damage to supervisors for prompt repair or replacement.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of waste materials and debris.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and practices, such as dust control and waste management.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other miners and supervisors to achieve production goals and meet quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with the team and supervisors regarding progress, challenges, and safety concerns.
- Assist in training new team members and share knowledge of best practices and safety procedures.
- Operational Support:
- Assist in carrying out geological surveys and interpreting the results to identify areas of interest for further exploration or excavation.
- Follow the mining schedule and adjust work plans to meet production targets and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in mining or a related industry is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Familiarity with mining equipment, including drills, excavators, and loaders, is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate and maintain mining equipment.
- Basic understanding of mining techniques and safety practices.
- Ability to work in challenging and physically demanding conditions, including extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with other miners and supervisors.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional mining or technical certifications, such as a safety training certificate, are a plus.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in underground or remote locations.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
