As a Driver at Kumba Iron Ore, you will be responsible for the safe transportation of people and goods, ensuring compliance with all safety standards while supporting the operational needs of the company. Key Responsibilities
As a Driver at Kumba Iron Ore, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Compliance
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental practices.
- Report unsafe practices or potential risks to your supervisor.
- Support good housekeeping to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
- Equipment and Machinery Movement
- Assist in the safe loading, shifting, and moving of equipment and components.
- Ensure that the correct lifting equipment and tools are used during tasks to prevent injury and damage.
- Equipment Inspection
- Perform pre-shift inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in working condition and meet safety standards.
- Report any equipment faults or deviations to your Supervisor for timely resolution.
- Team Support and Communication
- Liaise with relevant personnel to arrange assistance and ensure that resources (both equipment and people) are available to execute tasks effectively.
- Assist your Supervisor and colleagues in task execution in accordance with company policies and operational standards.
Qualifications & Skills Required
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- A valid South African Driver’s License.
- Technical understanding of vehicle and equipment functionality, including basic maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to interpret operational manuals, blueprints, and component drawings.
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English, with any additional local language being an advantage.
