Triton Fleet Management was established in 2013 as a result of the ever growing need within Triton Express to have a stand-alone fleet solution to service the business.
The Diesel Mechanic position has become available at Triton Express Johannesburg, reporting to the Workshop Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Servicing and repairing heavy commercial vehicles & trailers as per OEM Spec.
- Good Knowledge of Volvo, Scania, Isuzu, Merc, UD Trucks & Commercial Trailers.
- Strong Diagnostics / fault finding and repairing vehicles skills.
- Replacing faulty components as per OEM requirements.
- Knowledge of which OEM special tools to be used to carry out repairs.
- Must be conversant with diagnostic and fault-finding equipment. Laptops, Multimeters etc.
- Attending to the overhauling and replacements of engines, gearboxes and differentials and related components.
- Inspecting and checking vehicles and reporting all defects to management.
- Having good experience in welding, repairing bodywork of trucks and trailers, preparation & spray painting.
- Good mechanical, electrical and electronic knowledge and experience and fault finding.
- Servicing, maintaining and fault finding on hydraulic components and systems.
- Good Knowledge of all types of trailers, fitted with air suspensions and Air Brakes.
- Good Knowledge of air brake systems & air over hydraulic brakes diagnosing and repairing of problems.
- Attending to breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing vehicles onsite. (where possible).
- Willing to work extended hours and overtime on short notice, as well as weekends and being on standby 24 /7 at times.
- Workstation should always be kept clean and safe.
- Adherence to legislation, OSHA, National Road Traffic Act and Company policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of tyres and tyre failures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 minimum (Matric).
- Certified Diesel Mechanic – Trade Certificate preferably 10 years post trade test experience.
- Preferably trade / apprenticeship done at a recognized Franchised OEM Truck Dealership.
- Training courses with OEMs will be advantages.
- Preferably minimum of 5 years’ experience working on Volvo, Mercedes and Scania, UD and Isuzu trucks including breakdowns.
- Ability to use a laptop to diagnose vehicles.
- Unendorsed driver’s license- preferrable code 14 / EC type license.
- Valid PDP.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work unsupervised majority of the time.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written on all levels – both internally and externally.
